Little Men at the Club, 2016
I started with a famous pinup photograph -a woman drinking in the street, completely unbothered. That image stayed with me. I wanted to paint the moment where she owns the room without even trying, and the men around her just dissolve into the background. That's what happens here. She's sharp, present, almost graphic. They're barely there. The city lights hold everything together - the yellow, the blue, that electric New York night. It's a painting about who takes up space and who doesn't.
